We Are Taking the Sabbatical Plunge!

Before Sabbatical, there are months and months of:
Dreaming.
Planning.
Decision making.
Working out details.
Lists, lists, and more lists.
And now, it is time.

As I step into this Sabbatical, I feel my heart being tugged in different directions.
Sweet and sour, as Pastor Manuel would say.
Both/and, in the language of our Lutheran theology.

The hard parts are the goodbyes, stepping away from the relationships and the work that I love.
Yet, I fully know that amazing people are here, taking care of the various moving parts of our
communal ministry, holding them well until I return.
Against the farewells I can already sense the deep breath of leaving behind my calendar, the
scheduled responsibilities, the truth that Sunday is always just around the corner, and I have
work to do in order to properly greet the day.
Two months off the merry-go-round that is my one, wild, wonderful life. A reminder that my one,
wild, wonderful life can take time out…
Time to appreciate the gift of life. Time to wonder and be curious about other sorts of places.
Time to be inspired. Time to heal. Time to relax and rejuvenate.
Two months.

I invite you to take this voyage with me. The blog allows me to share my adventures and
discoveries with you and when I see that you have read a piece of my Sabbatical story, you
absolutely re-fuel my tank; checking in on me is a hug from home, an encouragement along the
way.

For now friends, Godspeed! May God prosper us all for the journey that is ahead.
