Joy In The Wilderness
Art speaking loud and clear
There is a piece of metal art in Bend. Located in the Old Mill District, it is a set of enormous wheels and the belt that is intended to be driven by those wheels has come off, and is twisted in an artistic mess. Of course, without that belt properly oriented, whatever the apparatus was supposed to operate, will be non-functional.
What a spot on visual for our current state of virus affairs.
The 'belt' has definitely come off, and the world is wildly out of whack. Instead of progress, each day brings more ambiguity. At present it is pretty hard to see past all the hardships to 'artistic'; the 'twisted' and the 'mess' on the other hand, are poignantly clear.
Just when it seems that the wheels have completely fallen off, something new pops up. Way too much popping...
By the way, I have a picture of that sculpture on my phone. The problem is, that as of this afternoon my phone appears to have 'black-screen-syndrome'. Okay, I'm pretty sure that's not a thing. But my phone, it seems that it is kaput.
Belts fall off. Phones go silent. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out what to do to repair the brokenness, but that day will come.
Grace in the waiting.
