Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

Do you see what I see?

{Shared with permission.}

It was a hot day and I had parked in the shade while I went to the dermatologist.

Coming out of the appointment, I wondered how I was going to navigate the two curbs to get back to my car. At 89 years old, I am a bit unsteady on my feet. In fact, I carry an emergency button around my neck just in case I fall.

As I entered the parking lot, there were only a couple of cars and not a person in sight. When I got to the first curb, a woman, maybe 70 years old or so, approached me and took my arm.

She started to talk to me as though I was a two-year-old, 'Now here is the curb, put you foot up on it, then the other.' We made our way across the space, came to the other curb and again, 'Put your foot up on it and step over to the other side.'

Once I was safely over both curbs, she asked if I need further help. I said that I was okay and turned to thank her, but there was nobody in the parking lot. I looked every direction. Nobody. I got into my car and looked again. No one was there.

I had seen, heard and had help from an angel.
