Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

How can that even be possible?

It was no big deal, he was simply headed down the stairs to retrieve his keys. Only trouble was, his boot caught in the carpet and his knee kept going. Snap! Kent's quad tendon was severed.

Crazy. But here is the thing, Kent's twin brother Kevin has an even crazier story. A couple of years ago, in a matter of two days, Kevin fell three times ~ snapping both quad tendons plus breaking an ankle. While Kent is able to move around with only his left knee unbendable, Kevin ended up in a wheelchair with both legs bolt-straight out in front of him.

Crutches or a wheelchair, for both men, freedom and independence were transformed in a moment. {Well, in my brother in law's case, three moments.}

Yesterday, on our way to Kent's surgery we spoke of life ~ precious and fragile.

Friends, where ever your spirit is this day, I encourage you to give thanks for the gift of right here and right now.

I’m absolutely thankful for right here, right now. May Kent’s surgery go well and may his healing be blessed.
