Joy In The Wilderness
Is that even possible?
Canoeing the Mountains is the title of a book that I am currently caught up in. As I said on Sunday, when I asked Pastor Manuel if he had read it, his response was, 'No. But that sounds hard!'
Canoeing the mountains? The Rocky Mountains?
Hard. Probably impossible. However, how mightily do we struggle as we attempt to step forward, thinking that we can still function with just our former tools?
As we live out this present moment and as we look into the re-gathering chapter just ahead, I am going to keep two concepts in front of us all; adventure and relentless innovation.
Adventure because I can't see what is over the hill or around the bend. Adventure because I don't know what is next. Together as a community grounded in prayer and the promises of the Good Shepherd, we will figure it out. Together.
Relentless innovation because what it means to be church is ever evolving and post-pandemic, will unfold in ways that we could never have imagined a year ago. Relentless innovation because it makes no sense to attack the mountain, any mountain with a canoe.
Possibilities. Opportunities. Rebirth. Hope. Joy. Community.
Adventure and relentless innovation!
Pastor Leah
