Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

Now, already!

'To heal' was the focus of our mid-week Lenten conversation. But let's be honest, healing is a complicated concept.

We can start with different sorts of healing…from a focus on our body/health onto that of spirit/restoration. A band-aid might serve one situation quite well while dangerously obscuring the real issues in the other.

And while you process that, how about weighing in on our vision and desires for healing, and how those might not be consistent with the healing that we actually experience. Still, on top of that, how about timelines? I don't know about you, but I usually want what I want, right here and right now. Nope, I am not the master of patience.

To heal…being healed, it is not necessarily how we might have hoped for it to unfold or look.

To heal…how about how we heal the other? By walking together. By listening. Seeing our fellow sojourners. By being seen. And even in our differences, continuing this journey, together.

God is all about healing. Healing our bodies and relationships and spirits. However, I'm not convinced that it is always how we perceive healing. Or when. And yet, it is there.
