Joy In The Wilderness
Poached eggs, only!
Let’s talk about poaching, not eggs this time…
Here in the south of Africa, the rhino population is on the brink because of poaching. On the one hand, we can blame the people who actually hunt down the endangered creatures and remove their horns. But we don’t have to go very far upstream to realize the heart of the problem are the people who create the market for those stolen horns. Only because people are willing to pay huge amounts for the horns that those animals are being so heavily poached.
I am no rhino horn collector, but the situation does give me pause to consider how my consumption habits make a difference in our world.
Back to the rhinos, in an attempt to save the pollution, rangers are removing their horns to save their lives. Crazy, isn’t it?
