Joy In The Wilderness
A step back to step forward
This morning I was out and about, gathering supplies for upcoming events, like Christmas Eve and Confirmation. While out I ran into one of you. What a gift to see your face and an even greater joy to actually have a quick conversation.
One of the things you said to me, how hard it is each Sunday when I remind you how long it has been since we were gathered together as community, under one roof, face-to-face. Yesterday, that tally was 39 weeks.
Astonishing.
Shocking.
Grim.
And still, here we are.
Since it was shared with me, I have repeatedly returned to the Keep Going Song. {If you have not checked it out, do. YouTube.} There are so many parts of the song that touch my own tender places, for instance, when the song becomes prayer. Beyond the chorus that continues to echo, 'keep going on', I resonate with the 'we are making it up as we go' part.
Lent. Easter. Pentecost. Months and month along the path. And now Advent. How to be Church. How to be community. How to Pastorally accompany a community. We are making it up as we go…
Like Shaun and Abigail, I continue to pray for you. And for us.
Keep going on…
Pastor Leah
