Joy In The Wilderness
And yet again, why do we gather?
Our Lenten theme continued to unfold this week as Pastor Manuel considered the connection between gathering and believing, believing and hope.
He asked the questions: Do we gather because we believe? Or, do we gather in order to believe?
Yes!
The chapter we are in, the condition of our spirit, and what is going on in our lives and the world all have some determination upon how we respond to that question. Furthermore, in community {gathered} we have the opportunity to 'go deep' as we explore our faith together, thus believing even more profoundly.
We gather in belief and for belief.
As we do this work together, we stir up clouds of hopefulness in the promises that God invites us into. Believing sliding into hope!
Last night Pastor Manuel also invited Mother Teresa into the room. She too had thoughts about the relationship between prayer, believing, and actively loving and serving our neighbors. It is as though when the Spirit starts stirring, Holy fireworks are ignited.
As though gathering makes a difference to us and our world.
As though...
