Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

Snowflakes and daffodils

This morning, while walking in the snow, I caught sight of my first in-bloom-daffodils of the season.

Snow and daffodils…they seem a strange pair, one representing winter and the other spring.

As we make this Lenten journey toward the cross and then onto resurrection, we find all sorts of seemingly opposing duos.

  • Darkness and light.
  • Death and life.
  • Broken and whole.
  • Both/and.

Perhaps that is one of the most important 'ah-has' of any spiritual journey, the 'both/and-ness' of who we are and the path that we blaze as sinner and saint.

However you are, wherever this day finds you, be reminded that the light shines into the darkness, and very soon the tomb will be empty.

Pastor Leah

And yet again, why do we gather?
Ode to trash day...

Daffodils have always meant a new beginning to me. A fresh start, a positive outlook, a new future. We can't live in the past or today, but we can learn from them. Focus on tomorrow. That's what's is important! I believe that's what God wants from us. A new beginning to come together as one with Him

This is a good one. So many times in life things are not always just one thing black or white there’s often Gray areas. It’s often said that the in between is where life happens. Wednesday night we were reminded of that too. I wish I had learned this earlier in life. It’s okay to feel multiple feelings at the same time. Life is complicated no one said life was going to be easy. That’s why we have community. No man is an Island right. There’s no problem that you have that someone else hasn’t already had that’s what makes our collective knowledge and easy access to it so important today in this modern world we live in. Have a problem look it up in the palm of your hand and find a community that can help you no matter what it is there’s a community for you. Amen 🙏🏻 don’t forget to change your clocks ⏰ forward this weekend.
