Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

Be prepared to stop.

On my 'list' this week was a drive to Sublimity to get new tires. Ugh!

{Yes, new tires are necessary and good, but to the process I say, ugh!}

On my way, roadwork. Ugh!!

However, as I drew near to the flagger, it was clear that she was dancing. And grinning. Almost immediately, she flipped the sign, but before I continued along my way, she flashed a huge smile and along with the universal two-fingered-peace-sign, she mouthed 'peace out'.

What a brilliant reminder that our presence always sends out ripples. How we interact with folks leaves some sort of impression. It might be negative. Or positive. Even a quickly forgotten neutral.

I pulled into the tire shop with a smile still on my face.

Yep! The little acts of kindness go a long way! I remember when they were doing all the roadwork on South Water, there was a flagger gal that smiled and waved at everybody! Certainly had to make a dull job happier and made everyone happy! May have been the same gal.
