Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

Early morning sightings

Because grief is deeply carved into our current circumstances, as part of our weekly staff meetings, we are reading devotions from a grief book.

Today the author spoke of grief as a disruption. Holy schnowza! Thinking about these last seven months, what HAS NOT been disrupted? Which is to say, there is much potential for oceans and oceans of grief.

The encouragement that followed was to chose behaviors that somehow manage to reconnect us. At this juncture, I add the pastoral language of spiritual practices. As in, what spiritual practices bless your spirit by reconnecting you to friends and family? The world? The Divine?

Because we are wired uniquely, we will each have to discover our own pathways, our own spiritual practices. But for those of you who know me, you will not be surprised when I confess that walking/hiking is a cornerstone in my personal practices.

I'm not even sure of all the ways that walking blesses me but I would certainly include being outside, noticing my surroundings differently, delighting in creation, releasing endorphins, chatting, praying, thinking, listening, being.

Praying connections for you!
