Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

Off to Bishop's Convo, via Zoom

Each year Bishops hold convocations, an opportunity to assemble the Ministers of Word and Sacrament as well as the Ministers of Word and Service for a time of learning and/or edification and/or fellowship. This week Bishop Laurie convened the Rostered Leaders of Oregon, via Zoom of course.

I always seem to feel an inner-push-back when I think toward these events. This year, three full mornings in front of the computer was my 'ugh'. But whenever I spend time with my colleagues, I receive gifts ~ some large, some small, some that I can immediately make use of and others that noodle around in my head until they mature.

Today it was an image that resonated within my spirit, that we are in a river and while we can't see where, we are absolutely going somewhere.

The world…Covid-19…society…the Church…we are in a river, moving, going somewhere.

Relationship, institutions, any resemblance to normal has been radically altered, causing angst and anxiety, fear, anger, grief. And when we are honest, we can also acknowledge that there have been beautiful gifts along the way too.

Anyone up for the adventure, because we are indeed in a river, moving, going somewhere.
