Joy In The Wilderness
Say what?
How about this for the sound-bite-of-the-day? Ambiguous grief.
One of my wise colleagues threw out the term as a way to articulate the fullness of a situation that is so difficult to name. Layer upon layer upon layer of stuff, including much and varied grief and loss.
Time passing. Events missed. Postponements. Cancelations. Adaptations.
What is on your ambiguous grief list?
And more to the point, what is rolling around in our spirits that we don't even have words for?
Ambiguous grief…
Then I think of St. Paul's letter to the Romans, when he talks about the Holy Spirit interceding for us when we do not even have words for prayer. I get to remind your that it is enough to groan. God who knows our hearts better than we do, hears. And cares. And walks with us through it all, ambiguous or otherwise.
