Joy In The Wilderness
One for all and all for one
As we have traveled from region to region, visiting parks and reserves, we regularly hear stores about synergistic relationships.
It is after the work of the woodpecker that the owl has a den. Likewise, the porcupine’s burrow begins with the anteater foraging for his meal.
We have seen the bird that takes to flight to announce to their neighbors that intruders/danger is near. Another bird spends most of her life on the back of the giraffe, consuming giraffe-lice. Yum, yum
Ultimately, these relations speak to survival.
The last couple of days we have been on adventures that have included picnics. The first day we opened our lunch boxes to find way too much food. Immediately one of the group called out to our guides, anyone want a sandwich? As it turned out, our guides had nothing at all; their meal and our meal were one in the same. Even a partially consumed soda was welcomed by our sojourners. Yesterday our breakfast remains were dropped off at the reserve station, to supplement those employees.
Humbling, for sure. Yet, even more, a reminder that just like the critters. we need each other; our relationships are about survival as well.
