Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

From our canoe…

After several days on the road, we have arrived at the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Upon arrival we did a fly-over and spotted elephants, giraffes, zebras and hippos. There were plenty of other critters that we were unable to properly identify/name.

Today we were on the water and had close (enough) encounters with hippos. Fascinating and exhilarating! We also crossed paths with an elephant serval times and he was absolutely majestic!

Being in this place is gift in so many ways…certainly the animals and the land but also the people. For many of the folks we meet, there has been no work and no assistance for 2 1/2 years.
Very, very hard times….

All these months of waiting and wondering has sweetened every sight and experience and I think it is entirely possible that it has also sweetened the welcome.
