Joy In The Wilderness
Right in the middle of things
The power pole had been so compromised, that it leaned precariously across the highway, just enough room for a pickup to drive under the upper side. Not safely, I'm fairly certain; however, in order to get to work, I know that people were indeed coming and going via this route.
Like so many images captured during the great-ice-event of 2021, the image speaks of the terror, destruction and losses that our community endured last month. And, of course, it will be many more months until all the holes are patched and trees are properly trimmed or removed. It will be a long time before we wrap this story up.
And yet, what is the shape of the dangerous power pole? A cross.
The damaged pole is a beautiful, incarnational reminder for us all. God shows up! In the midst of life, crisis, the mundane, the horrific ~ God is with us.
Right in the middle of things.
