Joy In The Wilderness
Smells a lot like kindness to me
Now returned to town, driving about, I am touched by the signs that are plastered up and down the streets ~ messages thanking the firefighters, first responders and heroes who travel these same streets. Paper signs that will melt when the rains arrive but for the moment, they are pure sugar. Sweet, sweet, sweet kindness!
Kindness, the trustees who called and asked what should be removed from the church in preparation for evacuation. And then they did.
Kindness, the vulnerable neighbor who did not voluntarily evacuate town so that she could watch out for her even more vulnerable neighbors.
Kindness, emergency parking for an RV or tent or other escape vehicle.
Kindness, parents creating some atmosphere of adventure for their kids during this highly anxious event.
Kindness, invitations for safe places to evacuate towards.
Kindness, the people who continue to work so that grocery stores remain open.
Kindness, an email, call or text check-in.
Kindness, what can you offer? How might you pass a little along?
