Joy In The Wilderness
The gift of a walk
I had a Growing Hope Globally meeting first thing this morning. Lucky for me, my East Coast and Midwest colleagues have bumped the meeting up from 6 am to 7 am. I consider that a score!
While not always possible, my preference is to walk my way through this particular meeting. Literally, I call in from home and then spend the rest of the call walking about town. It seems that I can focus better while afoot than I can sitting at my desk.
With so many ordinary options temporarily suspended, this season walking holds an especially tender place.
*Too many meetings in front of zoom; what a great change to be outdoors instead.
*An opportunity to think through a message or a blog or some other creative task.
*We can safely walk with friends.
*Of course, there is the joy when I happen upon members of the local deer population.
*And right now, an early morning or late afternoon walk is an exceptional way to enjoy the festively lighted neighborhoods.
While there are so many gifts to be enjoyed, a walk remains among my favorites.
