Joy In The Wilderness
Totally affirming!
Confirmation is a rite within many of the mainline church traditions. It is the day when a person intentionally steps into the promises that were made on their behalf at their baptism.
After a two-year journey ~ looking at the bible, creeds, commandments and thinking about the nature of God and our relationship with God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit, One in Three and Three in One … After a year of pandemic upheaval… After an ice storm, power outage/internet outage/trees blocking the road further postponed the celebration... After a very long wait, yesterday an amazing group of young people affirmed their baptisms and stepped into their adult role in the church.
Their faith-storied were told in languages of art, of science, of music, of mountain biking, of hopes and dreams, and of doubts. {Yes, you can still watch via our web page, Facebook or YouTube.} The event was a reminder that God speaks to us in ways that resonate with our being AND God continues to show up, even in the dark and hard places.
Concerned that something else would further delay the event, I didn't allow myself too much excitement until the day of. And then yesterday? I was redunkulously, over-the-moon, pastor-delighted.
Hearing their faith-statements…
Being in the sanctuary together…
The joy of community…
The hope of church-next…
Totally affirming!
