Joy In The Wilderness
Victory
Along a pathway I spotted the slug. He had managed to 'climb' the chunk of bread and was hanging out on top, as though he were the king of the mountain.
As goofy as he looked from my vantage point, five feet up, I'll bet that he was glowing in self-accomplishment. Small. Insignificant. But not for him.
Victories are personal, located in the context of each individual story. Some may seem small or insignificant from even a short distance out. But up close, they are victories, nonetheless.
Today I celebrate another birthday. I'm not sure that qualities as a victory but I will treat surviving the past year as a victory. And I will step into a new year with a vow to watch and celebrate, especially the small stuff.
