Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

Reminds me of something sweet

Yesterday afternoon, Sunday, and there was a flurry of activity at 303 North Church Street.

Our 10:30 service was an energetic Bilingual Advent celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lutheran-styled of course. The 1:00 service was a Spanish-Lutheran celebration of Our Lady.

And then a congregational meeting that many of you figured out how to zoom or call into. A huge bravo!

Shortly after I returned to the building for the Advent Devotional Service, the parking lot became Grand Central Station as deliveries came in for the Tree of Giving event. And while the gifts were being sort, organized and staged, Tony Kraxberger's Christmas Brass Concert was Livestreaming.

Energy. Activity. People. Noise. And yes, it reminded me of something sweet from years past.

Even with that said, yesterday was sweet and dear and good in its own right.

Good worship and music that went much further 'out' than any other year in our church's history. A congregation considering a ministry direction that we didn't go looking for but that came to us. Alongside of that, a Christmas project dedicated to putting gifts, toys and joy into the lives of people who might not have the means to make it so without some help from their community. All punctuated with the sounds of the season, Tony-styled.

Sweet, sweet, sweet.
