Joy In The Wilderness

Musings and ponderings by Pastor Leah Stolte-Doerfler

There you are!

How about a happy story? A tale of a friend's return?

In the midst of a season of apartness, how about some togetherness?

Dexter is the name we have long called him. His home-of-origin called him by another name but whatever you call this cat, he loves to roam his neighborhood, so much so that his presence seems more prevalent than his absence. Here he comes again!

From his first introduction, Dexter has proven himself to be quite the character. The cat who pounces grass or plants or people, and then snuggles into the chair next to the fire. To know Dexter is to be delighted by him.

But life changes… it changed for his family-of-origin. A job opportunity meant a move across Oregon. Before the final good-byes, there were offers to re-home this gregarious feline but the offers were declined and Dexter was gone.

But life changes… a change of mind… a change of plans… due to some unforeseeable circumstance one of his cat-parents returned to Silverton. Are you still willing to re-home Dexter? And just like that, here he comes again; he is back!

In a season of so many losses, having him wrap himself around my leg causes a lump in my throat.

Welcome home Dexter!
