Joy In The Wilderness
Under development
Our Oregon Synod Bishop regularly uses the language 'wild web of relationships.'
As I was on the Synod Council Zoom Meeting, looking at the web out my kitchen window and thinking of her words, 'wild web of relationships', I was struck by how Covid and our 'new-normals' have absolutely altered our relationship webs.
Via Zoom, my interactions and relationships with my Rostered Leader Colleagues across the state have shifted dramatically. I now 'see' those folks every week. I have met and chatted with folks that I had never had a conversation with.
Likewise, via Livestream, folks across the nation and world are invited and allowed to be part of our Sunday Worship communities. And if 10:30 or 1:00 don't work, they have the option to jump on whenever it does work.
Zoom, Livestream, What'sApp are invaluable tools that allow us to bridge gaps and continue to weave webs of relationships. I am so grateful.
And yet…
I am also aware of the folks who, due to lack of technology or discomfort with it, are not part of the intricately and oddly woven season. There are many faces and conversations that are missing at the table, or screen.
And yet…
The God who calls us by name continues to call us into relationships ~ with the Divine and with each other. Across the miles and the restrictions and the virus, we are children of the Divine, who will continue to weave us together. We don't always see the fine web but we can trust The One who is at work through it all.
Wherever and however you are woven in, please know that I am grateful to be part of your wild web of relationships.
